A huge thanks to our guest speaker Lauren Tonelli from the Invasive Species Centre who came all the way from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to speak to our club and was well received.

The Invasive Species Centre is a non-profit organization located in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario that works to connect stakeholders, knowledge and technology to prevent and reduce the spread of invasive species that harm Canada’s environment, economy and society.

Lauren Tonelli is the Project Manager for the Invasive Species Centre’s Asian Carp Program.
She put on a great informative presentation discussing aquatic invasive species and how anglers can prevent their spreading.

Well done Lauren and we can assure you we will do our part to not only to take efforts to minimize any possible spreading of evasive species but also report any invasive species that maybe encountered during our time on the water.

For more information about the Invasive Species Centre, please visit their website
www.invasivespeciescentre.ca/
York BassMasters is committed to its education and participation of its membership in its Conservation mandates.

Lauren is available to speak with other OBN clubs and can be reached at LTonelli@invasivespeciescentre.ca
We strongly recommend clubs take advantage of this wonderful and most informative speaker.

This I believe is topic of concern for all of us and I know we all wish to do our part to prevent the spread of such invasive species. Please be sure to attend this meeting and show our clubs support for this cause and certainly to show Lauren our appreciation for her coming to our meeting all the way from Sault Ste. Marie!
We encourage members to bring guests along. Any other visitors are also more than welcome to attend for what I am sure is going to be an informative speaker.

Thanks to all the members of York BassMasters for participating in the Jackall Pitch It plastics recycling campaign. Our efforts led to 45.45 pounds of used plastic baits being diverted from our waterways.
The campaign certainly shed light on how a few discarded plastic baits can add up in weight.
Hats off to all the other clubs for their efforts as well. It would be certainly good to see the total weight of all the OBN clubs efforts.
