We're at it Again!

The Bogart Creek Restoration Committee teamed up with community members and the York Bassmasters at the Bruce Lindsay Retention Pond last month to help the area thrive. They planted a number of trees and greenlife, and the Bassmasters plan on introducing pan fish and bass into the pond. The BCRC plans on planting in this area for a couple years to come, so soon this lovely little area just off Leslie will be flourishing. Think this is a great cause? Keep an eye out for the next BCRC event and get involved!

2007 Bogart Creek Project

On Saturday May 5th, (opening day of walleye season) the York Bassmasters, instead of fishing, spent the day working on a stream rehabilitation project.

In conjunction with the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, the York Bassmasters is a leading participant in the Bogart Creek Restoration project.

The club removed old fencing that is impairing the creek, cleared several types of invasive plant species, removed garbage and laid cloth fabric in preparation for tree planting.

In the fall of 2007, the York Bassmasters will be working on further enhancements including fish ladder repair and bank stabilization.

Bogart Creek is a cold water stream originating in the Oak Ridges Moraine where it eventually feeds into the Holland River and subsequently, Lake Simcoe.

The creek project is located at the Leslie Rd and Mulock Rd area of Newmarket.
